National Cadet Corps - NCC

The National Cadet Corps (NCC) is a youth organization in India that aims to develop character, discipline, and leadership qualities among young people.

Formation and History:
The NCC was formed in 1948, tracing its roots back to the ‘University Corps’ established under the Indian Defence Act of 1917. It aimed to address the shortage of personnel in the Army. Over time, it evolved into the NCC we know today.

Tri-Services Organization:
The NCC is a Tri-Services Organization, comprising the Army, Navy, and Air Force. It is open to school and college students on a voluntary basis.

Training:
Cadets receive basic military training in small arms and drill. Officers and cadets are not obligated to serve in active military roles after completing their course.

Motto:
The NCC’s motto is "Unity and Discipline"12. This reflects the values of teamwork, cohesion, and adherence to rules.
