About The Chemistry Department
Department of Chemistry is the core department among faculty of Science. The department was established in 1967. Chemical education is provided to the undergraduate level courses i.e. Bachelor of Sciences based on CBCS, 4 year semester degree systems. The department offers academic teaching in inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry and physical Chemistry based on theory as well as practical. Advance Department of Chemistry faculty research efforts to keep abreast of the latest scientific advances and to impart new concepts in the department’s undergraduate and graduate curricula. Department maintain graduate and undergraduate teaching and research programs to develop the next generation of academic, industrial, and government laboratory chemists who will be called upon to solve new problems

The mission of the department of chemistry is to provide educational program that would encourage students to read critically, reason analytically, communicate smoothly and apply professionally the experiences of knowledge.

Academic Events
The Department is entitled to organize various national and international scientific events i.e. National Chemistry Day, National Science Day, World Ozone Day, World Environmental Day, World Water Day, National Space Day, International Science day, National Pollution prevention day, National Energy conservation day and focused on various innovative theme for academic and state of the art development. These events make the youths creative for social and national development with high entrepreneurship. In addition, occasional quiz, painting, slogan, Rangoli debate, group discussions and cultural program are organized by department time to time to celebrate the scientific event.
Research and Development
The department has distinguished itself as a centre for innovative and pioneering research in a wide range of areas in chemistry and Materials Sciences. The department is recognized as one of the best research performing center in Muzaffarpur. Chemical laboratory is well equipped with basic research facilities. Nanomaterials and Nanotechnology is the core area of the research at this department. Department offers various national/international research collaboration.
