About Us - Lalit Narain Tirhut Mahavidyalaya

Lalit Narain Tirhut Mahavidyalaya is a prestigious co-educational college, located at Aghoria Bazar chowk, a prime location of Muzaffarpur. The college was established in the year 1967, named Tirhut Mahavidyalaya by the vigorous effort of it founder members, under the leadership of the then Railway Minister, great visionary and social worker Late Lalit Narain Mishra. But after the assassination of Pandit L.N. Mishra in 1975 a special and urgent meeting was held on 8th January 1975, under the president ship of Sri Radha Mohan Shukla in which a resolution was adopted to express its deepest sense of sorrow and on record its profound brief over the sad and untimely demise under tragic circumstances of Sri Lalit Narain Mishra, Railway Minister.

The Committee considered the resolution which was moved by Sri Radha Mohan Shukla, president of the meeting for re-naming Tirhut Mahavidyalaya, Muzaffarpur, which was unanimously accepted and therefore resolved that Tirhut Mahavidyalaya be re-named as Lalit Narain Tirhut Mahavidyalaya, Muzaffarpur. Seeking the approval of the University with immediate effect. Very shortly the university was accepted the request and approved its name as Lalit Narain Tirhut Mahavidyalaya.

The motto of Pandit Lalit Narain Mishra was to establish an institution in north Bihar, which could educate the students of this region. Hi dream was to spread education to all. His inner instinct had always motivated him, that only education can make a good human being. His thought about the weaker section of the society will receive the light of knowledge, National Integration, National Liberation brotherhood through this college as well.

The college was approved by the University Grant Commission, New Delhi, under section 2(f) and 12 (B) in the year 1982. Approximately 3000 students belonging to the General, SC, BC, OBC and minority categories are imparted teaching of mainstream subjects of three different streams by eminent teachers.

The college has a sprawling green campus with all modern facilities. We also run self-financed vocational courses to sharpen the skill of desirous students. The college has Modern Laboratories, Smart Class Room, Seminar Hall, Girls & Boys Common Rooms, Indoor Sports Facilities and Facilities for Physically Challenged persons. We intend to improve in every sphere of higher education through the combined efforts of our faculty members and supporting staffs.
